Wazhma Sadat

Board Member

Wazhma Sadat is an attorney based in Washington, D.C. With deep experience across public and private sectors, she focuses on international law and policy in post-war contexts. Most recently she served as a Subject Matter Expert for the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR). Prior to SIGAR, she was a litigation association at major Washington, D.C. area law firm where she focused on international law. Before that, she was a judicial law clerk at the Connecticut State Supreme Court where she clerked for the Honorable Justice Steven D. Ecker. From 2015 to 2019, she co-founded and led two companies—an online leadership academy, and a cooperative that represented several Afghan women-owned businesses in international markets. Earlier in her career, she worked for the U.S. Department of State and USAID in Afghanistan on various economic and education development projects across all regions of the country. An alumna of Yale College and Yale Law School, she currently serves on the board of Jackson School of Global Affairs at Yale University and is a past chair of the Muslim Alumni of Yale.
