Milton Barnes

Milton joined Stearns Bank in 2020. He began his career in commercial real estate in 2011 as a commercial real estate investment sales broker and spent four years selling multifamily buildings in the Portland Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Chasing the sun, Milton moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he worked for a private lender and gained experience with a wide range of asset types. These included hospitality, office, retail, industrial, and special uses such as self-storage, data warehouses, and cannabis. As a commercial lender at Stearns Bank, he provides funding for commercial assets nationwide, including construction projects.

Professionally and personally, Milton cares about family. He believes that real estate is an industry in which it is easy to see how the built environment and the choice of others can affect the livelihood of individuals and families. He finds that as an organization, Stearns Bank upholds a commitment to people both in the way it treats its employees and through its commitment to make solid lending decisions that benefit communities. He is motivated by opportunities to help people and to teach his family to do the same.

Milton earned his MBA from the University of Portland and his Bachelor’s degree in real estate finance from Portland State University.

When he is not working, Milton spends as much time as possible with his kids. He is involved in his church and shares his time counseling adults and mentoring youth.
