Carmen Muhl

Carmen Muhl is the VP and Senior Director of Treasury and Islamic Banking at Stearns Bank, N.A. Having been in the banking industry since 2001, Carmen has held diverse roles in accounting, finance, and liquidity. Since 2019, Carmen’s focus on asset liability management has allowed her to grasp all funding methods the bank has access to. Recognizing those options, the risk for each, and how they can help the bank operate has developed Carmen’s ability to see other options outside traditional funding with core deposits. This strategic approach enables the bank to proactively mitigate liquidity risk and make informed decisions. Carmen's venture into Islamic Banking in 2024 heightened her awareness of the pressing need within the banking industry to enhance access for underserved communities.   With dedication and passion for growth, Carmen will graduate from the Minnesota Bankers Association Leadership Development Academy in May 2024.
