Chief Executive Officer/Owner
Norm has owned controlling interest in Stearns Financial Services, Inc. (SFSI) since 1964. Norm provides hands-on daily supervision and direction of banking activities and regularly visits all branches to provide supervision of activities. Norm is an active member and Chair to the Loan Committee and Stearns Bank’s Board of Directors. He generously shares his time and financial resources to many charities and his alma mater – the University of North Dakota.
Harley provides analysis and guidance to all areas of the bank to control operational, credit, and other risks. Harley has been with Stearns since 2006. His 33 years of regulatory background provides solid credit, analytical, compliance, and overall bank risk management expertise. He is a Board member of our Holdingford and Upsala affiliate banks. He is responsible for regulatory relations, coordinates loss-share affairs, acquisition due diligence, and coordinates audit and loan review activities, among other matters. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris and the Pacific Coast School of Banking.
Kelly joined the bank full-time in 2012, but is no stranger to Stearns’ affairs and culture. Kelly is a Board member of Stearns Bank. She is leading the bank’s initiative to increase SBA lending and also advises the loan committee and lenders on legal matters and supervises special/problem assets. Kelly graduated from the University of Minnesota, and obtained her Juris Doctorate/Law Degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
Matt is responsible for management of operational activities of the bank, as well as capital and liquidity planning, monitoring, and administration. Matt has been with Stearns since 2009 and has over 20 years experience in all areas of banking. He coordinates budgeting, accounting, asset/liability management, and information technology activities. Matt is a graduate of University of Wisconsin with an accounting major and MIS minor
Greg joined Stearns in January 2016 and leads the credit administration function of Stearns. He supervises lending activities, including loan policy compliance, determines overall loan portfolio performance, and problem loan supervision. Greg’s prior experience spans 34 years and consists of credit administration, loan origination, loan workout and branch administration.
Steve started with Stearns in 1977 and is responsible for the bank's nationally-recognized lending programs and Minnesota community banks. Steve provides extensive experience in management, marketing, and negotiating skills, combined with community involvement to provide a highly visible and positive public recognition for Stearns.
SVP/General Manager of Stearns Equipment Finance Division
Diane Notch is responsible for supervising lease production and client management staff and has been with Stearns since 1995. She is a high-energy, motivational manager with extensive management educational experience and creative approach to production and customer relations. Her previous experience includes sales, marketing, and production management in the optical field.
Daryn has been with SFSI since 2004, his financial acumen and analytical skills are extremely beneficial to the Equipment Finance Department. His prior experience was with Wells Fargo and Prudential. Daryn is a graduate of Moorhead State University, with an MBA from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.
