Charity Challenge Generosity in the Midst of Economic Woes
January 14, 2009 -- The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation (NCSF) and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation are pleased to announce that the 8th annual Community Charity Challenge brought in $98,654 for local food shelves in Central Minnesota.
The NCSF had initially agreed to match every dollar donated up to $25,000. When the community responded with generous donations and the amount surpassed $25,000, Norm increased the match amount to $45,000. Through the eight years of the Community Charity Challenge, more than $600,000 has been raised for the local food shelves.
"We are very grateful to be a part of such a generous community especially at this time of economic hardship. The Challenge is rewarding for me because we are able to help out others in our own community,” said Norm Skalicky, CEO of Stearns Bank. “My thanks to all who stepped up and met this challenge.”
“The Community Foundation is grateful for the generosity of the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation. We are inspired by the generosity of Norm and the community at large. We received many phone calls during the last days of December from people wanting to know if the challenge had been met,” stated Steve Joul, President of Central MN Community Foundation.
